Red Hat this week announced the general availability of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.6, the latest version of Red Hat’s enterprise-grade Kubernetes container application platform.

The latest update offers an enterprise-ready container platform based on Kubernetes 1.6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the integrated docker container runtime. It is designed to help customers to more quickly roll out new services with the support of a stable, reliable and more secure enterprise container solution.

The Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.6 introduces several new and enhanced features designed to further extend enterprise security and compliance procedures such as Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), secrets encryption and image signing, and enhancements to Network Policy module.

The PCI DSS helps organizations that accept, process, store or transmit credit card information, while the secrets encryption feature allows for the encryption of secrets at rest in backend storage. The enhanced Network Policy module brings greater and more nuanced control for how applications can talk to each other and what network resources they expose.

Copel Telecom, a Brazilian company that provides telecommunication in the state of Paraná and one of the largest electric power facility provider t=in the country, has deployed the new platform to help to address application security, compliance and service consistency with a new PCI-DSS applicability guide and fine-grained network policy and control.
