Hungarian mobile operator, Magyar Telekom announced that it has started building a 5G test network in the city of Zalaegerszeg, with the aim of making Hungary as a European center for the development for 5G, as well as a leading regional center for testing new network technology and smart solutions.

Promoting this objective, the Operator starts building a 5G pilot mobile communication network at the motor vehicle test area which will be established in Zalaegerszeg. 

With the initiative, the city can access applications operating on the most sophisticated actual digital infrastructure, and the company also cooperates in testing and establishing self driving cars as well as smart transport solutions.

A letter of intent about the joint cooperation agreement for the building of the 5G network was signed at the Zalaegerszeg Mobil 2017 Vehicle Industry and Logistics Trade Exhibition and Conference by the government, the city, Autoipari Probapalya Zala (Automotive Test Courset) Magyar Telekom and T-Systems Hungary.
