AT&T announced plans to launch '5G Evolution' network in over 20 major metro areas by the end of this year, starting with select areas of Austin. AT&T said customers with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ can access this network for faster internet speeds.

AT&T said its customers can expect to see their data speeds increase as it continues to invest in its wireless network by adding small cells and through upgrades like carrier aggregation, 4x4 MIMO, 256 QAM, taking advantage of technologies from the existing LTE-Advanced and LTE-Advanced Pro standards.

These faster speeds allow reduced gaming lag and less buffering when watching favorite shows while on the go. The Operator plans to offer numerous other devices that can take full advantage of the new network by the end of this year.
