Telefónica Spain has selected Casa Systems as a supplier of 4G femtocells that will be deployed to improve in-building quality of service and coverage for residential customers. 

4G femtocells are part of Casa’s Apex Ultra-Broadband 4G small cell solution that can support 3G and 4G cellular, Wi-Fi,LTE-A, 3.5 GHz CBRS and MuLTEFire access. 

Telefónica’s fixed, mobile and broadband networks reach 349 million commercial and residential access points around the world, most notably across Europe – particularly Spain – and increasingly throughout Latin America. Complementing its extensive, globalnetwork presence, Telefónica is now focused on expanding the density of its mobile network to accommodate the growing wave of new devices and applications and ensurean optimal subscriber experience.

With this infrastructure, Telefónica is setting the path towards the 5G era adding a new network layer that provides added value to both residential and enterprise customers. This reinforces the leadership of Telefónica, by achieving a network density that is capable of meeting the demand of more connections and accessing more data intensiveapplications.

Casa’s end-to-end small cell solutions are complemented by the Axyom Ultra-Broadband Software Framework to provide high-density transport security and accessconcentration in a virtual multi-access edge-computing footprint at the network edgethat supports 3G/LTE and Wi-Fi technology.
