Vodafone Netherlands in partnership with NEC has launched an Mobile Edge Computing (MEC)-based service that integrates mobile devices and networks with Unified Communications and other enterprise IT applications.

The new service, 'SignaalPlus Enterprise Connect' allows mobile devices to seamlessly attach to the enterprise UC on premise as a standard UC endpoint and offer a full range of mobile and UC services. Vodafone Netherlands takes advantage of NEC's Small Cells solution to deliver the service.

The new solution allows a single mobile device to securely connect with all local enterprise information systems, as well as manufacturing and healthcare equipment, allowing integrated communication, messaging, alarm handling and automation.

The high quality unified experience truly leverages the potential of mobile devices for Enterprise and Industrial IoT. The solution is highly resilient, allowing for internal critical communications and business processes to continue in emergencies, fixed or mobile network outages and natural disasters. Local resilience is a key requirement for many sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics and hospitality environments.
