Ferrovial has selected Telefónica as its supplier of communications for the next five years, in order to develop solutions that add value to the business and support its international expansion.

The Spain-based Ferrovial is a leading infrastructure and services operator with more than 96,000 employees and a presence in over 15 countries.

Through this agreement, Ferrovial and Telefónica will work together to develop fixed and mobile technology, collaboration tools, new workplace services and specific security solutions which will entail a leap forward in cybersecurity and cyber-surveillance. In addition, both companies will examine the scope for collaboration in the areas of Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities.

Ferrovial, with Telefónica as one of its main technological partners, is firmly established as a leader in the digital transformation of its business and employees, further enhancing its lead in the digital revolution. Deployment of a high-availability optical fiber network is a cornerstone of the cloud infrastructure solution, as it allows centralized management. This alliance will provide Ferrovial with greater flexibility in the systems area as it expands internationally, and in the process of digitalizing the company.

Inigo Meiras, CEO of Ferrovial
This global agreement will enable us to pursue our expansion strategy in a very agile, flexible way, providing new services that will support our ongoing digital transformation process.

Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete, Chairman of Telefonica
All companies must transform and adapt to the new digital environment in order to address emerging challenges. This alliance makes both companies more competitive and innovative within the technology and infrastructure fields.
