'Internet of Thing (IoT)' is quickly becoming the buzz word in the ICT circles, especially within the telecommunications segments where mobile operators are expecting a rapid surge in the network traffic as more and more devices and machines connect to the network. These connected-ness is likely to become a common feature across all our future technologies. Devices and machines of the future, regardless of their employment, will record and submit continuous data via the network while big data technologies will decipher these information to produce real-time indicators, analysis and insights that businesses and even households will rely on for their operations.

As with any new idea, the IoT is generating much interest and a lot is being said and shared across the media on its outlook, technologies, solutions and the range of innovative services that are predicted to hit the market as the IoT takes off. Appinions, an Influence Marketing Platform that helps B2B businesses to identify, manage, and measure the people and ideas that impact companies and their products has recently published its Industry Influence Study on the Internet of Things. The study was based on content that appeared on blogs, news, forum and social media posts from March to June 2014 where it is analyzed for influence and impact.
