Cisco has recently completed the acquisition of Lancope, a privately held company based in Georgia for $452.5 million in cash. Lansope is a provider of network behavior analytics, network visibility, and security intelligence to protect enterprises against advanced threats.

The acquisition of Lancope is expected to bolster its network and security analytics capabilities, enabling Cisco's customers to monitor, detect, analyze and respond more efficiently to modern security threats toward enterprise networks. It will also enhance Cisco's Security Everywhere strategy, enabling the network to become a security sensor, delivering continuous visibility, and accelerating incident response across the extended enterprise.

The Lancope team joins the Cisco Security Business Group organization led by David Goeckeler, senior vice president and general manager.
