Nokia Networks Buys 3-D Geolocation Technology from NICE Systems, Bolsters Multivendor Optimization Capabilities

In a move intended to bolster its ability to enhance the planning and optimization of mobile networks, Nokia Networks said on Thursday it has acquired advanced geolocation capabilities from Nice Systems. The geolocation uses three dimensional modelling aimed at delivering better accuracy of network performance for multivendor networks.

Nokia networks said that it gains access to tools, technical expertise, and the right to further develop these capabilities. Nokia believes that when combined with its services expertise, this technology helps to provide deep insight into traffic trends and the performance of mobile broadband networks.

Advanced network planning and optimization services are at the forefront of Nokia Networks' strategic services to mobile operators.  The evolution of small cells and LTE necessitates more accurate 3-D geolocation capabilities. Nokia Networks  intends to enhance this unique solution in order to offer superior services to our customers, regardless of which network gear they use"

Dennis Lorenzin, Head of Network Planning and Optimization, Global Services Business Unit, Nokia Networks

"NICE is very pleased with this new engagement with Nokia Networks. Nokia Networks is one of the leading mobile broadband service providers for the telecom operators worldwide, and with this arrangement, our unique 3-D solution will now be made available for a much larger installed base."
