Swisscom has partnered with Netherlands-based Fairphone to add 'Fairphone 2' smartphone to its portfolio. The device which runs Android 5.1 Lollipop is available to customers at affordable prices in combination with a Swisscom subscription.
The 4G LTE Fairphone 2 is designed to be modular and boasts repairability with spare parts made available in Fairphone's shops. The smartphone which can be ordered via Swisscom’s distribution partner Digitec is available in color black and costs just CHF 1 when ordered with a Natel infinity plus XL subscription.
The Dutch start-up hopes to stir up the telecommunications sector with its smartphone, which it says is manufactured in accordance with fair trade principles - ethical extraction of raw materials, socially responsible production conditions and longevity of the product.
Bas Van Abel, CEO of Fairphone
