The new '11.4-millimeter thin' Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch for the first time comes with 3G connectivity which incorporates an embedded-SIM(e-SIM) with voice capability that allows the smartwatch to perform quick functions without being closely tethered to a phone. It also boasts Near Field Communication(NFC), a short-range wireless technology that enables mobile payments.

The Samsung Gear S2 comes in two different options – the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic, catering for distinct consumer preferences. The Gear S2’s 1.2-inch circular screen and its 360 x 360 resolution (302 ppi) specifications allow greater viewability, along with its unique rotating bezel and the 'home' and 'back' buttons, which ensures users have a quicker, more precise method to comfortably access notifications and applications. The new smatwatch is powered by the latest Tizen OS and an optimized 1-GHz dual core processor for smooth multi-tasking.

The new gadget also saw Samsung introducing fitness functions on the smartwatch with a 24-hour activity log that lets users view daily activity progress and patterns at a glance. It will also send reminder updates to motivate users to stay on track with their fitness goals.
