Bahrain's leading operator, Batelco, today announced the successful implementation of its VoLTE service leveraging Ericsson' platform. With the technology, Batelco's subscribers can make and receive calls over the 4G/LTE network and at the same time enjoy video calls, instant messaging, video streaming and data browsing. Customers will be able to simultaneously access the Internet at 4G LTE speeds while making crystal-clear HD voice calls.

Batelco launched its commercial 4G LTE mobile service using the 1800MHz frequency band two years ago. This year, the operator enhanced the service with LTE Data Roaming for its customers travelling to Saudi Arabia.

The service will allow customers to enjoy High Definition (HD) Voice calls with call setup times of less than a second and pave the way to advanced and interoperable services that facilitate multimedia communication and collaboration at the same time as the voice call is being made.
