Bharti Airtel, Thursday announced the commercial launch of its 4G LTE service to pan India, covering 296 towns across the country, two months ahead of Reliance Jio Infocomm's expected launch. Offering 4G at the same price as 3G, the Operator is pushing out 4G data packs starting at Rs 25.

To boasts its 4G numbers, Airtel is offering six months of unlimited music streaming and downloads on 'Wynk Music' and five free movies per month for six months on the Eros Now channel of 'Wynk Movies'.

“With the help of the feedback received from the beta launches, we have now built India’s first commercial 4G network that will make high speed mobile broadband a reality,” according to Gopal Vittal, managing director and chief executive officer of the company. He added that, "The national roll-out today is another small step in our journey to be the most innovative and customer focused brand."

According to PwC, India is expected to have 10-15 million 4G LTE subscribers by the end of this year with more operators expected to launch their 4G services and with the influx of affordable smartphones catalyzing the take up of 4G services. 

Bharti which has 230 million subscribers across 14 circles is projected to spent $2.2 billion in capital expenditure for the financial year 2015/16.
