Angie Communications USA, a newly launched ultra-broadband provider in the US, recently announced the availability of 10-Gigabit fibre to the premises(FTTP) service in 87 cities across the country.

The company is part of Angie Communications International, a Dutch start-up that aims to build multi-nation next-generation communications infrastructure, offering 10Gbps fibre broadband and '5G wireless’ in the Netherlands, UK and US. It announced in 2015 that it plans to deploy Ultrafast 10Gbps FTTP  fixed-line services to 3 million premises across the UK.

Angie USA said that it will roll out its 10 Gigabit connections under the Wired Extreme brand in all the 87 markets where the company has access to almost 10,000 on-net buildings. It also claims that it has more than 30,000 on-net buildings within reach, already connected by Angie's partners across the country.

Angie said it has recently started placing orders for the delivery of 10 Gigabit connections to tens of buildings, and the company expects this number to increase exponentially in the coming weeks and months in the US, UK and the Netherlands for on-net as well as near-net and off-net buildings and locations.

The buildings that end up being connected by Angie (the so-called Angie Buildings), also serve as the backhaul hubs for Angie’s Wireless Extreme service, which is the company’s wireless Gigabit service for city-wide use.

Another service provider, Altice USA, comprised of Suddenlink and Cablevision, also recently announced it plans to skip DOCSIS 3.1 upgrade to start offering 10Gbps fiber connectivity directly to its 8.3 million customers starting in 2017.

Neal Lachman, Group CEO, Angie Communications
Our approach is different from Google Fiber and any other fiber operator. Instead of pulling fiber to millions of premises, which is very time consuming and requires an investment of billions of dollars, Angie capitalizes on the tens of billion dollars worth fiber that is already invested by our partners.

Gregory Nemitz, Angie's Group COO
We use the on-net buildings that sign up with Angie as hubs to pull fiber to the near-net or off-net buildings. This approach means that physical construction work in the initial phases of our rollout is limited to the least amount possible. The money we save on CapEx is passed on to our customers in the low pricing structure.
