TiVo, the global leader in entertainment technology and audience insights, Wednesday announced that it has signed a long-term intellectual property (IP) license with Home Box Office(HBO), the premium television programming subsidiary of Time Warner 

HBO is acquiring a license to the TiVo patent portfolios and the over-the-top (OTT) assets of the Intellectual Ventures patent portfolio under the TiVo/IV licensing partnership.

The TiVo companies have spent decades investing in research and development to generate some of the most valuable intellectual property in the media and entertainment industry. TiVo’s commitment to innovation empowers it to deliver products that touch practically every aspect of consumers’ day-to-day interaction with their entertainment, and helps IP portfolio licensees build customized, next-generation digital entertainment solutions for users around the globe.

In a separate news, Reliance Jio Media has selected TiVo’s CubiTV to deliver hybrid television entertainment to subscribers via high definition (HD) and 4K set-top boxes (STBs). CubiTV will power Jio’s advanced HD and 4K STB platforms to enable unified access to linear TV with PVR, Video on Demand, Catch-up TV and network PVR, content alongside access to OTT services.
