Singtel's Over-the-Top(OTT) video streaming service, HOOQ has launched its service in Singapore where it will compete head on with market leader Netflix, as well as iflix. HOOQ's subscription starts at $8.98 a month and users are given discounts for longer subscriptions.

HOOQ which was formed via a partnership between Singtel, Sony PicturesTelevision and Warner Bros was first launched in the Philippines, and has since expanded to Thailand, India and Indonesia. It allows user to enjoy its service an a range of devices including computers, smartphones, tablets, set-top boxes,smart TVs via Google Chromecast and all Apple devices. 

HOOQ claims that it has a catalogue of more than 20,000 movies and television shows, from Hollywood television productions such as Supergirl and Gotham, to Bollywood hits like Amitabh Bachchan's Black.

At the same time, HOOQ announced today a holistic partnership with Singtel that enables Singtel’s prepaid, postpaid and broadband customers to access HOOQ as part of bundled service packages. In a phased launch, HOOQ will be available to Singtel prepaid customers first and the other bundles will be available to postpaid and broadband customer progressively over the next few months.

They will be pleased with HOOQ’s vast selection of Hollywood hits, as well as, ethnic movies and TV dramas. As an OTT video service, HOOQ is a good complement to our pay TV product, as it allows us to offer an even wider breadth of content over multiplescreens – mobile devices, computers and televisions.
