Dutch operator, KPN, announced on Monday that it will be rolling out VoLTE which will enable its 4G customers to enjoy HD sound quality and faster call connect. With VoLTE, it only takes 2 or 3 seconds to set up a call, as opposed to an average of 7 seconds on 2G or 3G.

After several successful tests in cooperation with Samsung, KPN started the phased rollout. In addition to VoLTE, KPN plans to launch voice over Wi-Fi in 2017.

KPN customers with Samsung S6 and S6 Edge smartphones will be able to start enjoying the service immediately, while the operator is working to support more smartphone models in coming months.

Two of KPN's rivals, Vodafone and Tele2 have already launched VoLTE services early this year. Meanwhile, Vodafone Netherlands has revealed plans to launch both VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling service later this year.
