Jio to Shake India's Mobile Space with Free Domestic Calls & 'Lowest' Data Rates in the World

From today, mobile users in India can enjoy free domestic voice calls to any network across the country from Reliance Jio Infocomm(Jio) when they subscribe to the newly launched ‘Jio Welcome Offer’. Jio Welcome Offer is available up to 31 December 2016.

Reliance Industries' chairman Mukesh Ambani used the company’s 42nd annual general meeting to make the announcement and share Jio's plans.

Under the Jio Welcome Offer, the Operator is offering users data services free for four months, after which it will offer 10 tariff plans starting at Rs19/day for occasional users, Rs149/month for low data users and Rs4,999/month for heavy data users. Jio also makes its commercial entry - a big bang by offering data plans at one/10th the prices offered by incumbent telecom operators.

In addition, Jio subscribers can also access unlimited LTE data and national voice, video and messaging services, including national roaming, along with the full bouquet of Jio applications and content, completely free up to 31 December 2016.
