Robi Completes 4G LTE Trial Ahead of Official Spectrum Allocation in Bangladesh

The largest mobile operator in Bangladesh, Robi Axiata said that it has successfully completed a 4G LTE trial run recently, ahead of the official spectrum allocation. Early this year, the government of Bangladesh announced that it will auction 4G spectrum for mobile phone services within this year.

Supported by Huawei, the 4G test run registered a blistering download speed of 71.26 Mbps. Huawei P9 Plus was used as the test device. The trial run was held at the customer experience centre located at the company’s corporate office at Gulshan.

Robi said that the vastly enhanced speed offered by 4G is expected to revolutionize the internet experience for the mobile phone subscribers of the country.

A.K.M. Morshed, CTO, Robi
4G is widely recognized to be a great enabler of life on the digital frontier. As the digital lifestyle takes hold in our society, the demand for speed is on the rise. With this successful test run, we would like to send out a clear message to our valued customers that, with 4G Robi will be ready to help them ignite their power within. This certainly marks a milestone in the country’s journey towards the realization of the Digital Bangladesh vision.

Zhao Haofu, CEO, Huawei
LTE is very much on the horizon and Huawei is committed to make it a success for the mobile operators in Bangladesh. We are very excited to see that the LTE trial run with Robi has clocked up the best speed so far of up to 70+ Mbps.
