India's 4G entrant, Reliance Jio has partnered with a leading video-on-demand Over-the-Top(OTT) content platform, Hotstar to provide its subscribers access to Hotstar's premium content and services. The Operator also launched JioPlay app to access these Live TV services.
The Jio Play application allows users to view live TV on the go with over 291 channels that includes big names such as Sony, Zee TV, Neo Sports and Start TV.
However, if a user tries to view a Star TV channel, the application will lead to the Google Play or the iTunes App store asking to install the Hotstar app. Normally, Hotstar users need to pay Rs.199 for them to subscribe to access live Star TV channels, however no subscription fee is required for Jio Play users.
In addition to streaming live TV, the app also allows users to enjoy a range of popular American TV shows like Prison Break, Silicon Valley, and many more.
Navigating through the Jio application to view premium Hotstar content is easy, said Jio in a statement. All users have to do is click on the preferred Star TV channel on Jio Play, following which the Hotstar app opens up the channel.
