M1 Extends Local Data Bundle to Rio 2016 Olympics

M1 Singapore is extending its mobile data plans to cover Rio 2016 Olympics games in Brazil with the launch of the Brazil Data Passport to enable athletes, officials and supporters visiting the host country of the world's biggest sporting event to stay connected. The Brazil Data Passport plan will be available through to September at a promotional rate of $10 a month.

M1’s unique Data Passport service, which enables its customers to use their local data bundle overseas, was launched in July 2015 and is now available in 46 destinations including Australia, Malaysia, China, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Since the launch of Data Passport, M1 claims that it has seen more than a 100% increase in active data roamers, and total data roaming traffic has grown by three times.
