TELUS has started offering 4K Ultra-HD programming in Western Canada with the launch of Optik TV, enabling British Columbians and Albertans to experience the service for the first time in this region. With four times the resolution of HD, 4K delivers a lifelike viewing experience with astonishing picture quality.

At launch, TELUS' 4K lineup will include TSN 4K, adrenaline sports (e.g., snowboarding, surfing and dirt biking) On Demand, Stingray Ambiance and a growing collection of On Demand movies and Optik Local productions. New titles and channels will be added on an ongoing basis as additional 4K programming becomes available from content providers, said the Operator.

To enjoy 4K programming, customers will require a 4K TV, a 4K PVR, as well as a minimum of Internet 50Mbps download and 10Mbps upload to support 4K streaming. TELUS said that its new 4K PVRs will store up to 400 hours of HD content, or up to 100 hours of 4K content - double the capacity of TELUS' current HD PVR. TELUS 4K PVRs are available at no additional cost with a two-year commitment.

To preview the 4K Optik TV experience, in-store demos are available at 21 TELUS retail locations across British Columbia and Alberta.
