Orange has launched its Orange money transfer service to its mobile subscribers in France. The service enables users to transfer money via their mobile to Orange Money customers in other countries where the Operator is present, namely Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, and is also made available within Metropolitan France. The service also enables recipients of the funds to withdraw money from over 30,000 Orange Money points in the three recipient countries.

By launching the service in France, Orange said that it is responding to a strong demand from its customers with family or friends in Africa. This service will develop gradually and Orange intends to increase the number of points of sale in the country. Moving forward, Orange will be releasing an Orange Money app and will be expanding the service to other destinations.

The launch by Orange is supported by its subsidiary W-HA, which has an EMI agreement and is authorised to issue and manage electronic money. The technical and banking expertise of W-HA, said Orange will ensure excellence of customer experience and user security.

Orange launched the first international money transfer service for its Orange Money customers in 2013 covering transfers between Senegal, Mali and Côte d'Ivoire. In March 2015, the service was expanded to transfers to and from Airtel Money customers in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal.
