BT, Wednesday launched new pay-monthly mobile phone contracts for its home broadband customers, featuring latest handsets from leading brands along with SIM-only deals which start from just £20 per month. BT acquired EE, the UK's largest mobile operator last year and the launch of the new services will be expanding its suit of mobile service offerings in the UK market.
According to BT, the new plans provide a £5 monthly discount on devices such as the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy A3. They also come with a choice of three simple plans providing data allowances of 500MB, 2GB or 15GB. On top of EE's 4G network, users can also enjoy Wi-Fi coverage powered by more than five million BT Wi-fi hotspots.
Via the BT Mobile app, the new plans let customers keep tabs on their consumption and balances using monthly spend caps and usage alers, reducing incidences of bill shocks. Users are also given parental controls feature allowing parents to block inappropriate content and choose between Strict and Light filters.
