TIM unveils a new 4K ready set-top box with the Android TV OS that the operator developed in collaboration with Google. The decoder, dubbed as TIMvision will be available to Smart TIM customers for 2 euros per month from next month.

The next-generation set-top box allows customers to directly access video, news and on-line games from the rich bouquet of Apps available on Google Play, designed for TV.

The TIMvision decoder introduces new features and expands the range of services including viewing content in Ultra HD, Wi-Fi connectivity suitable for video streaming (5GHz 802.11ac dual band), integrated digital terrestrial (standard DVBT2) and a next-generation processor to ensure the best browsing fluidity. It also features Google Cast which enables TV broadcast from an Android device.

The set-top box will also include an infrared remote control and a Bluetooth 4.1 with microphone to enable searching and vocal demand for programs and news.

The project is part of TIM's strategy for the dissemination of innovative services as a technology enabler, with the aim of bringing more and more of our customers to the quality of streaming content.
