Windstream Launches 1-Gigabit Broadband in Four Markets

Windstream, provider of voice and data network communications, and managed services to businesses in the United States announced the launch of its ultra-fast 1-Gigabit Internet service in four markets. The 1-Gig Internet service will be available to approximately 35,000 residential and small business customers in Lincoln in Nebraska, Lexington in Kentucky, Sugar Land in Texas and seven North Carolina communities.

According to Windstream, with the Gigabit broadband service users can download 100 songs in three seconds or an HD movie in just seven seconds, which is significantly faster than services currently available in each market area. Over the last three years, Windstream has made significant investments in infrastructure and network upgrades across all four markets, it added.

We’re continuing to build on the momentum we started last year with the launch of premium speeds, Kinetic TV and Project Excel to further improve our network and expand our service offering.
