The U.S. leading operator Verizon, has started the rollout of Android Marshmallow for its Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users beginning the 1st of April. Google launched the brand new Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system end of last year.

Once updated, the S6 and S6 Edge will be able to experience Google Now on Tap and longer battery life through Doze. When the device is at rest, Doze automatically puts it into a sleep state, preserving the device's battery charge. The update also involves a number of other improvements, including improved live broadcasts and the addition of a search button to the app drawer.

Verizon also listed some network related improvements with the update for example the backing up of call logs to Verizon Cloud for its Wi-Fi Calling. It also promises more seamless transition from Wi-Fi to cellular while using mobile data, including on Network Extenders.

Other US operators such as T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint are expected to start rolling out the update for their users in due course.
