Jionet, India' high-speed Wi-Fi service by Reliance Jio Infocomm has been deployed across six city cricket stadiums in Bangalore, Dharmashala, Kolkata, Mohali, New Dehli and Mumbai, all with a minimum 20,000 in-stadium capacity.
The 4G operator will be providing the service on a complimentary pass basis for visitors to the stadiums during the T20 World Cup matches that start today.
Jionet aims to revolutionize how spectators experience the games, as they are commonly faced with connectivity issues due to the large data traffic generated within the venues during events. Jionet said that the service will enable match spectators to share their stories, connect with their friends and family, surf and stay connected on social networking sites.
According to Jionet, its specially designed High-Density Wi-Fi (HD Wi-Fi) network is capable of providing a stable high-quality Wi-Fi coverage to individuals in densely packed groups by creating lots of small radio footprints, thus keeping the radio traffic between the user and the AP low, avoiding both interference and congestion.
