The largest mobile operator in Turkey, Turkcell has launched a new Internet-of-Things(IoT) service for Smart Homes, powered by DSP Group’s advanced ULE (Ultra Low Energy) SoC. DSP Group is a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications.
The IoT service will leverage on Turkcells' existing DECT-based home gateways. With DECT technology already embedded in three generations of Turkcell’s home gateways, a simple software upgrade to ULE for IoT support was a natural step, enabling a myriad of new IoT applications and services such as home automation, safety, monitoring services, energy management and assisted living.
ULE provides advanced home networking technology, offering outstanding range, lower power consumption, robust and secure RF channels and supports two way voice, audio and video communication over the air. Based on a simple star topology, ULE requires fewer nodes compared with other mesh network technologies, thereby reducing total system, installation and maintenance costs, says DSP Group.
Anıl Gül, Director of Terminal and Mobility at Turkcell
With DECT connectivity already embedded in our CPEs, it was a natural step to upgrade to ULE to offer a new scope of IoT services for our customers.
Ofer Elyakim, CEO of DSP Group
We’re pleased and proud to lead the ULE revolution, and look forward delivering Turkcell subscribers ULE’s unparalleled technological merits and low Total Cost of Ownership.
