Vodafone Hutchison Australia is planning to launch 5G mobile services in 2020, reported The Sydney Morning Herald. The plan which is part of the operator's 2020 strategy, has received green light from its joint owners, Vodafone and Hutchison Whampoa.

In an exclusive interview with Fairfax Media, Vodafone Hutchison Australia CEO Inaki Berroeta said that improving customer satisfaction, launching tailored mobile plans and gearing up for the next generation of 5G mobile services will be top priorities for the year ahead.

September last year, the country’s third largest mobile operator signed an AUD1 billion ($700 million) deal with leading ISP TPG Telecom to connect 3,000 towers via TPG’s unused optic-fibre infrastructure, which the operator said will be utilized for the 5G upgrade plan.
