AT&T is bringing back the unlimited wireless data plan, but this time for customers with DirectTV or U-Verse TV subscription, nearly five years after doing away with its all-you-can-eat wireless data pricing. The operator which completed its acquisition of DirecTV, the satellite TV provider, in July last year, is luring customers with the integrated offer to tap the popularity of streaming video services among mobile customers. The re-introduction of the unlimited data plan follows a recent move by T-Mobile, the third largest mobile operator in the US, to offer unlimited video streaming to customers through its BingeOn service.
AT&T's plan which becomes available today, offers unlimited data, talk and text on a single smartphone for $100 per month with subscribers having the option to add additional smartphones at $40 per month each, and a fourth smartphone at no additional cost.
AT&T said that the new Unlimited Plan is the first of the many integrated video and mobility offers the company plans to announce in 2016. Also, AT&T plans to launch a wide-range of new video entertainment options later this year.
