The top two leading service providers in the Philippines, PLDT and Globe Telecom are bringing Netflix's Video-on-Demand(VoD) content, offering subscribers access to its extensive library of movies, TV shows and original content. The US-based Over-the-Top(OTT) content provider, Netflix boasts 69 million customers in over 60 countries.
PLDT's fixed (Fiber & DSL) and mobile broadband (via it Smart brand) customers can access Netflix using their existing broadband plans. PLDT has been offering OTT services, partnering with iflix and Fox International Channels. Globe Telecom, a close rival to PLDT has also signed a similar agreement with Hooq TV, a Singtel and Sony joint venture, to offer VoD service for its customers in the Philippines.
