India's new entrant to the mobile market, Reliance Jio Inforcom has pilot launched its 4G network for its employees and their families across India. The launch on Sunday saw a gala event organized at the Navi Mumbai at the Reliance Corporate Park with a performance by India's Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh Khan will be Jio's 4G service brand ambassador, said the Operator.

The company is expected to begin the commercial rollout of the service from March to April next year. Citing a report by brokerage firm Credit Suisse on recent field trials, Reliance Jio said that the download speed on the 4G network during beta-test peaked at 70 megabits per second but remained in the 15-30 mbps range during normal times
