Hutchison 3 Macau has commercially launched its 4G LTE service that promises coverage for over 90% of the outdoor areas in the country. The new network covers all the major commercial areas including Porto Exterior, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Areia Preta and Taipa. The operator has invested MOP600 million ($54.6 million) to roll out the network on a 15MHz paired spectrum and plans to deploy VoLTE sometime next year. The 4G LTE service, built by Chinese equipment vendor, ZTE will allow customers to enjoy speeds of up to 112Mbps.

The 4G LTE plans start at 98 patacas ($16.7) per month for 1 GB and also offer an unlimited data bundle with fair usage of 10 GB for MOP598 (€68.1) per month.

March this year, 3 Macau and three other operators - CTM, China Telecom Macau and SmarTone - were awarded 4G licences by the country's authority. All the other three operators have already launched their 4G services.

He Weiming, CEO, 3 Macao
3 Macau in the past few months actively building 4G LTE network, is pleased today to launch commercial 4G LTE service, on the one hand to create a new communications experience for our customers, also hope to promote the development of the telecommunications industry in Macau, I believe in the near future, can cater to Macao cross-domain user demand for high speed data services.
