T-Mobile KNIPPR OTT Service Allows Subscribers to Create Their Own TV Package

T-Mobile Netherlands is entering the TV market with Knippr, an OTT service, where subscribers can create their own TV package from a basic tier of channels. Open to everyone, the KNIPPR television service will be available from spring 2016. The new Knippr service will offer a basic tier of channels, including the main channels from NPO, RTL Nederland and SBS Broadcasting, and also features the option that allows customers to add more channels on an a la carte basis. T-Mobile said that talks are going on with almost all the major broadcasters and online video services to offer customers the widest possible choice for their package. The launch by T-Mobile follows KPN which launched its Play service in November this year.

The operator added that KNIPPR follows in the footsteps of start-ups and disruptive business models with closed markets being opened up by enabling technologies and with consumers now having more power to determine the choice of content and services they consume. The service, more imporatantly, allows consumers to pay just for what they consume, allowing them to save on their infotainment spending.

Tisha Lambs, Director of Consumer Marketing & KNIPPR
With KNIPPR we come up with a full-fledged TV product that matches how does the current generation TV. This new service is designed to take away three great frustrations that exist among the TV viewers about the way TV is offered.
