Vodafone India has turned on its 4G services with its launch in Kochi, Kerala. The service which is delivered on the 1800 MHz frequency band saw the operator investing more than Rs700 crores in the southern state of India for network expansion and modernization, according to the Operator. The country's second largest operator said that it is the first in Kerala to offer 2G/3G/4G services on its own state of the art convergent radio technology.
The launch sees Vodafone offering plans ranging from a trial pack of 120MB at Rs 29 to a bonanza pack of 20GB at Rs 2499. To spice up the debut of its 4G service, subscribers are also offered free Unlimited movie subscription via Vodafone's partnership with Hungama Play which gives access to more than 7500 titles for 3 months. On top of this, the operator is also offering free unlimited music streaming on Vodafone Music which boasts more than 1.2 million songs.
Vodafone said that it will increase the intensity of its 4G rollout covering important metros across the country - Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata in the first phase. Testing of 4G services in these locations has already commenced successfully, said Vodafone adding that it has partnered with leading global technology service providers for the network rollout.
