French broadband and mobile operator, SFR has launched, 'Box Fibre Zive de SFR', a premium set-top box with new features for advanced services such as 4K/UHD and multi-screen TV for its home fiber customers. The service is offered to the operator's 7.4 million eligible fiber customers that are on 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps speed packages.

At the same time, SFR also unveiled Zive, a SVOD service that works on Box Fibre Zive de SFR and offers more than 5,000 HD shows and almost 600 4K/UHD items at the time of launch.

The new set-top includes a 1 Gbps fiber modem, a 4K/UHD TV set-top box and a 500 Gb hard drive for recording and replaying live shows. The Box Fibre Zive de SFR also delivers better WiFi coverage on the market, with dual band 802.11ac to achieve theoretical speeds of 1,750 Mbps, according to the Operator. An HDMI In port provides control of other devices from the TV screen (e.g. Chromecast dongles, game consoles and Blu-Ray drives) and gives the set-top box a central role in the household.

The device also boasts eight tuners which enables viewing of a live show in 4K/UHD while keeping an eye on another channel with build-in Picture in Picture feature. It also allows users to record two other live shows and broadcast a channel to another screen in the household. In addition the set-top box comes with native contactless technologies - NFC and Bluetooth - for hassle-free pairing with other devices in the home.
