Telenor's Grameenphone, the biggest operator in Bangadesh with over 52 million subscribers, has taken an initiative to introduce high speed Free Wi-Fi Internet service for its customers nationwide. By the end of this year, the operator plans to connect minimum 30 important locations in the country as part of its ‘Internet for All’ ambition.

Initially, it will be a pilot project, and only Grameenphone customers will get access to the service at free of cost for the first 3 months, said the operator.

In the Wi-Fi hotspots, Grameenphone customers will see a Wi-Fi SSID named “GP WiFi” in the Wi-Fi option on their devices. After connecting to the GP WiFi SSID, customers need to register with their GP number which generates an SMS which enables them to enjoy the free WiFi Service.
