French mobile operator, Bouygues Telecom this week announced that they would activate 4G+ with theoretical speeds of up to around 300 Mb/s in the city of Lyon. The operator leverages on the LTE Advanced technology to aggregate three frequency bands - 1800 MHz, 2600 MHz, 800 MHz - with a spectral width of 40 MHz to attain the speeds.
The operator also plans to extend the service to Marseille and Paris. By next year, more than 400,000 people across France's large cities, namely Nice, Toulon, Montpellier, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes and Rouenthe will have access to the service. The deployment will also continue in Paris and neighboring towns throughout 2016, including in areas such as Boulogne-Billancourt, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Courbevoie, Nanterre, Saint-Denis, Montreuil and Vitry-sur-Seine.
Bouygues Telecom customers with a Category 9 compatible mobile device, for example, the Samsung Edge+ and S6 will be able to leverage the 4G+ network to surf with more fluidity, mobility, watch HD videos or download content such as music, applications and photos much faster.
