The second largest mobile operator in the US, AT&T has announced NumberSync, a new service that helps users to link their compatible devices to their primary mobile number. This new feature will enable AT&T's Mobile Share Value plan subscribers to send and receive texts, as well as make and receive calls, from devices such as tablets and wearables using the same number.

According to AT&T, as NumberSync operates via the wireless network, users need not use their smartphone Bluetooth connection to link up these devices to receive calls on them, which means that these devices can be far apart. Additionally, NumberSync works even if the primary phone is turned off or disconnected from the network. As this is a network-based service, NumberSync will not be limited to just one device or operating system, said AT&T.

AT&T also said that it is actively working with its ecosystem to integrate NumberSync with future devices. The operator expects to launch NumberSync on its first device soon with additional devices launching by the coming holidays.
