MTS India has rolled out a special mobile data plan that caters for Voice over IP(VoIP) calling for both its prepaid and postpaid customers. Customers can use the data for making internet calls using any internet calling application of their choice, be it over WhatsApp, Skype or Viber, said MTS.

Under the new plan, a 5GB package will cost prepaid customers Rs. 499, while postpaid customers will pay Rs. 599. MTS said that with the 5GB of data, users will be able to use 5000 minutes of internet calls based on the standard voice codecs.

The new plan is part of the operators' 'OpenWeb Data Plans' that was introduced in August. MTS India describes the new plans as “Anti-Zero Rating Plans”, designed to provide absolute freedom to customers to surf, call & chat freely and fairly.

The operator said that the rollout will be supported by an exclusive television commercial (TVC) which will be aired across major national channels with special emphasis on regional channels in the 9 circles where MTS operates.

According to Sandeep Yadav, Chief Marketing & Brand Officer – MTS India
It is our belief that the freedom to access and use internet services the way a customer wants should rest with the customer himself. Our latest “Anti-Zero Rating Plans” allow customers the freedom to use data for internet calling if they wish to.
