Vodafone become the first operator in the UK to launch the enhanced version of mobile calling & messaging service, Call+ to Android phones, reported Engadget. The Rich Communication Service (RCS)-based Call+ brings a new dimention to the 20+ years mobile communications with multimedia sharing features in real time such as sending images, sharing maps and contacts. Android users are required to download an Android app to start using Call+ features. However, owners of the Xperia Z3 range are able to use Call+ features without the app. The Operator plans to launch more handsets that can support the service natively.

In the US, T-Mobile become the first US operator to introduce Advanced Messaging service that is based on the Rich Communications Services (RCS) standard in July this year. The operator started offering the service on the new Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime natively and also made it available on Galaxy S5 and S6 through simple software updates.

At the same time, Deutsche Telekom's regional operating company, Telekom Albania launched its rich IP communications service leveraging Jibe Mobile's IP Communications Cloud. The service, available first as a downloadable app, replaces the native SMS/MMS messaging app on Android with a single application that enables mobile subscribers to video chat, instant message, group message, share large photos and videos while still being able to SMS and MMS with users that do not have the service.
