Three UK has announced the commercial launch of its voice-over-LTE(VoLTE), dubbed as '4G Super-Voice' ahead of its rival EE and Vodafone. The 4G Super-Voice service will leverage on the 800Mhz spectrum that its has rolled out, making use of lower frequency for better indoor mobile coverage.

"By the end of the year, one million of our customers will have access to better indoor coverage and be able to use their phones in more places than ever before. We are proud to be the first network to roll this out across the country," said Bryn Jones, chief technology officer at Three.

Early this year, the operator announced its intention to deploy 800MHz spectrum, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and small cells in its bid to improve its mobile network coverage and quality.

Three which boasts 3.4 million 4G customers of its eight million subscribers says the technology already covers 50% of the UK's population for indoor coverage and more than 75% of London, Edinburgh, Exeter and Birmingham.
