The largest operator in Thailand, Dtac plans to introduce VoLTE in November this year, according to the Bangkok Post, which cited an announcement by Dtac's CTO, Prathet Tankuranun. The Operator said that the initial testing of the new service would start with Dtac employees who own 4G VoLTE-enabled devices, including the Samsung S6 and S6 Edge, prior to its commercial launch three months from now.

The Operator showcased VoLTE & VoWiFi at the recent NET 2015 event which was held as part of Thailand’s National Communications Day commemoration to support the Digital Economy Initiative of the Thai government.

Dtac said that VoLTE and VoWiFi technologies promise 10 times faster call setup times and will replace traditional voice services on 2G/3G networks within the next 3-4 years. In addition, the VoLTE service also offers HD video call quality at 720p/1080p resolution, added Dtac.

In April, Dtac celebrated its 4G roll out in Thailand's capital city, Bangkok and across more than 40 cities in the country. Dtac's CEO, Lars-Ake Norling targets 2.5 million 4G subscribers by end of this year.
