China Mobile Starts Commercial VoLTE Rollout in Zhejiang

China Mobile has commercially rolled out its VoLTE HD voice services in Zhejiang, the first province in China to enter into the VoLTE era. Zhejiang Mobile, China Mobile's unit in the region has partnered with Huawei on the implementation. China Mobile & Huawei have conducted an end-to-end virtualized VoLTE solution involving vIMS, vEPC, vSDM and vPCRF early this year.

Huawei has been selected as part of China Mobile’s VoLTE (CM-IMS phase 2) project to provide three new enhancements - New Call, New Message, and New Contact in developed coastal provinces as well as metropolitan cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. The Chinese telecoms solution vendor claims that with this order, it captures the largest share, amounting almost half of the China Mobile's VoLTE project.
