Samsung has started rolling out a trial version of its mobile payments platform, Samsung Pay to selected group of users with Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones in South Korea ahead of its international roll-out. The service which is expected to be officially launched in September in the US, promises to deliver a faster and easier shopping experience where all a user needs to do is just tap an icon from the phone's menu or swipe from the bottom of the home screen of the device.

Samsung said in a blog post that the service is "the first and only mobile payment service that works with both near field communication NFC and card readers with magnetic secure transmission (MST) technologies, which means that it is already compatible with most retail locations’ point of sale terminals". The MST technology comes from Samsung's acquisition of LoopPay and allows communication with widely available magnetic stripe card readers.
