Swisscom, this week announced that from the 8th of June, it will offer symmetrical bandwidths to all its Swisscom fibre-optic customers, enabling customers to enjoy equal upload and download data speeds for the same price. The new upload speeds will be up to ten times faster, said Swisscom.

Customers on Swsscom's fibre-optic connection will soon be able to upload and download data at exactly the same speeds, allowing videos or holiday photos to be uploaded faster to cloud services such as Youtube, Facebook and Flickr. Backup of personal data on cloud services such as iCloud, Dropbox or Swisscom Docsafe will also benefit from the considerably higher upload speeds. The symmetrical speeds will not only aid residential customers, but also companies with a fibre-optic connection and a “My SME Office” combined offer.

In addition, Swisscom is doubling the capacity of its best-selling product Vivo M for all customers, enabling them to surf the web at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. For customers who simply require a fast Internet connection, Swisscom is now offering speedy Internet access without telephony or TV.

Marc Werner, Head, Swisscom Residential Customers
Thanks to our investments in network infrastructure, as well as in copper and fibre-optic networks, our customers are now able to benefit from faster speeds. We have already connected 1.5 million households with ultra-fast broadband and are expanding still further.
