Du Rolls Out Free WiFi to e-Goverment Services & Sponsored Access to Other Content

Du last Sunday rolled out free WiFi service in more than 200 locations in Dubai & Abu Dhabi as part of the Dubai Smart City project, covering key locations in the city, including Dubai Tram, Dubai Metro, Knowledge Village, the DIFC, Dubai Media City, Emaar Boulevard, Global Village and du retail outlets. The operator plans to expand the service to more than 300 locations by the end of the year.

To enjoy the WiFi service, customers can select three usage options: Free high speed for government services, Paid Premium high speed and Ad-Sponsored basic service at regular speedThe Ad-Sponsored option requires users to watch a video advertisement in exchange for an hour's internet access. Users can use the free service to access the Internet, browse emails and use their social applications free of charge, at lower speeds.

As part of its launch promotion, users taking out the Premium high speed plan will be given two offers - six hours of Wi-Fi access over three days for AED 20 (~US$5.44) and 20 hours over seven days for AED 50 (~US$13.6)
