NTT DOCOMO, last week introduced a new +d (pronounced "plus d") initiative, which will see DOCOMO intensifying efforts to share its extensive business assets with partner companies for streamlined collaboration. Services co-created through such efforts will be branded with unified names that begin with the letter "d."
DOCOMO's collaborative efforts will involve DOCOMO extending its reach further into the Internet of Things (IoT) to create new value and business models that incorporate diverse technologies. This will be done in fields including automobiles, the environment, energy and others. DOCOMO also aims to develop businesses for advanced machine translation, next-generation mobile infrastructure for more robust mobile communications, and increased use of ICT in sports to promote cutting-edge technologies envisioned for 2020.
