Globe Telecom has recently signed an agreement with online retailer Lazada, to bring its GCASH mobile wallet solution to the eCommerce space in South East Asia. The partnership will pave way for GCASH, a product by Globe Telecom’s wholly-owned subsidiary G-Xchange (GXI), to be used as a mode of payment on Lazada’s eCommerce website. Owned by Rocket Internet, the Lazada Group's online shopping site is one of the biggest in the Southeast Asia and serves customers across Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
GXI has also established a wide network of local and international partners that includes government agencies, utility companies, cooperatives, insurance companies, remittance companies, universities, banks, and commercial establishments which accept GCASH as a means of payment for products and services sold via the mobile phone or the Internet.
According to a statement by Globe Telecom, Lazada boasts approximately 4 million daily visits to its website which carries over 15,000 merchants and serves 1.4 million active customers.
